彭晓玲 Xiaoling Peng Biography

I graduated from the College of Art, Southwestern Normal University, China in 1988. Thereafter I started to teach Visual Communication Design and Art Foundation courses in the Department of Design, Yunnan University of Technology in Kunming until my departure for the States in April 1998. My works include paintings and sculptures, were exhibited in China and abroad, and were collected by admirers from Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore and the United States. My book, "Two-Dimensional Design in Multi-angled Views" was published in 1998 by the Publishing House of Science and Technology of Yunnan. I had taught undergraduate students fundamental art courses in the Department of Design, Yunnan University of Technology in Kunming, China for Six years. In 1998 I came to Ann Arbor and started to teach art class in my art studio and Ann-Hua Chinese School. I teach Watercolor, Sketch, Oil painting and Children color painting and drawing. In my class, we combine traditional Chinese paintings and drawing skills with contemporary concepts of art and design in teaching. I feel so fortunate to attract a lot of talented students ranging from kindergarten to high school students or even adults to learn art and design every year. It is a great pleasure for me to teach young students to use the lines, patterns, and colors to explore the beauty of nature and express the touching moment of feeling or telling a story in their art works and more importantly bring appreciation to arts in all societies. In my art studio we emphasize and strengths students’ skill and experience in art and design. Guiding students toward truly understanding how to communicate using art's magical language and inspiring their imagination and curiosity in their artistic creativity are always my major tasks.

彭晓玲老师毕业于西南师范大学美术学院美术系，毕业后曾在云南工业大学（现为昆明理工大学）工业设计系从事教学工作近10年，教授素描，色彩，素描构成，平面构成，色彩构成，立体构成，摄影，产品外形设计，毕业设计，等重要课程。持有云南省高等学校教师资格证。1998年至今在美国密歇根大学工作，来安娜堡后开设注册了艺术绘画工作室，并于99年开始在安华中文学校教授绘画至今。已经为学生开设形式多样的各类课程包括素描，水彩，素描构成，动物画，油画，儿童画等。在我的课堂上，我们将中国传统绘画和绘画技巧与当代艺术和设计理念相结合。我感到很幸运，每年都能吸引很多从幼儿园到高中甚至成年人的优秀学生来学习艺术和设计。我很高兴能教年轻学生使用线条、图案和颜色来探索自然之美，并在他们的艺术作品中表达感人的感受或讲述故事的时刻，更重要的是为所有社会的艺术带来欣赏。在我的教学中强调并加强学生在艺术和设计方面的技能和经验。引导学生真正理解如何使用艺术的神奇语言进行交流，激发他们的想象力和艺术创造力的好奇心一直是我的主要任务。
