安华中文学校 ,由徐勤老师任教的"演讲与口才"班, 在上两个星期举行了一次"风华杯"演讲比赛.比赛分两种形式进行,主题演讲和即兴演讲.比赛结束,经裁判员公证裁判,当场决出名次. 主题演讲比赛,少年组,一等奖获得者是刘玲达,二等奖获得者是李安吉,三等奖获得者是庞瀚森.儿童组,一等奖获得者是孙思伟,二等奖获得者是何天颖,三等奖获得者是李晓颖. 即兴演讲比赛,团体一等奖获得者是李安吉,何天颖,李晓颖. 通过比赛,同学们不仅提高了中文表达能力,更重要的是对演讲产生了很大的的兴趣,他们自己动脑筋,确定主题,自己写演讲稿,而且反复练习.这个演讲班虽然开办不久,但同学们都在不同的程度上取得了进步.我们衷心祝贺各位获奖者,同时也预祝这些同学,在密西根中文演讲比赛中,获得优异成绩.

演讲与口才,顾名思义,就是培养口头表达能力.在课堂上,孩子们不仅接受语音语调的训练,还受到仪表,仪态和形体动作的训练.培养孩子大胆地在众人面前表达自己的思想,展现自我的勇气,这是开办 "演讲与口才"班的教学宗旨.据研究表明,良好的口才,对孩子的学习和今后事业的成功,至关重要.
这学年很快就要结束了,若对"演讲与口才"有兴趣的家长和学生,请与徐勤老师联系,因为根据演讲课一对一的特点,对人数有一定的限制.另外徐老师还透露一点信息,从这星期开始,演讲班将开始排练一个节目, 配乐诗朗诵 << 妈妈的乡愁>>,准备参加九月份的中秋联欢晚会.有一定中文基础并感兴趣的同学,欢迎从这星期天就可以加入<<演讲与口才>>班.时间是下午2:00---3:00, 教室是二楼第一个教室.徐勤老师的e-mail 是cityq25@yahoo.com.

Si Chuan Chun Lei will release their plan for supporting earthquake children next week. Per our discussion with Chun Lei, they will help us identify and connect with earthquake children at one place, such as from one school or one town. Based on the grade levels of children identified, and Si Chuan Chun Lei's new, standardized amount of financial support for each earthquake child per year, we will then know how many children Ann Hua can support given our resources.

May we know how many grades Ann Hua now has? And how many Chinese classes? We wanted to get a sense for the possibilities of each Ann Hua grade or class adopt/sponsor one child. Ms. Liu hopes that Ann Hua students will write to sponsored children.

When I talked with Ms. Liu Jing, our Chun Lei contact yesterday, she was on her way to a meeting on relief efforts even though she was supposed to rest yesterday after weeks of non-stop relief work. Ms. Liu said children are now in tent schools and that at this point their number, family situations and origins/locations are quite fluid - there is still a lot of movement of people and children.

We believe we can send out our initial $5K next week once we receive the plan.

5月18日安华中文学校为汶川地震灾区募捐

　　2008年5月12日农历四月初八，印度板块强力挤压欧亚大陆板块。100多年的能量积蓄瞬间爆发。下午2点28分，介于两大版块交界处的四川省以汶川为中心发生7.8级 （修订后8级）地震，并波及大半个中国。在传媒手段极其发达的现代社会，当地的影像同步在世界各地播放。传说中的人间天堂与仿佛灾难片中的世界末日的强烈对比， 既让人感叹世事无常，又让每一个炎黄子孙肝肠寸断！

　　当美丽的家园瞬间夷为平地，当祖国的花朵还未绽放便已凋零，当震后5个小时就赶赴灾区的总理行走在强烈的余震中指挥救灾，当人民子弟兵用手指挖掘出遇难人员，当伞兵在恶劣天侯中冒险强行空降被困地区，当志愿者们徒步行走在随时可能发生滑坡与泥石流的山间，当现场记者冒死为我们传递出救援的进展，此时此刻，远在万里之遥的我们能做些什么？

　　作为侨居海外的中华儿女、炎黄子孙， 我们每一个人都有同一种深深的感怀。当我们越远离祖国，我们的心却更加贴近她。几千年血浓于水教化下的中国人，在祖国与同胞遭受重大的自然灾害的时刻，怎能坐视不管。5月18日，安华中文学校自发地组织开展了捐助活动。从同学们踊跃献出的自己积累的零用钱、压岁钱，到父母们慷慨献出的几十、成百或上千的支票现金，每一份对灾区人民浓浓的爱心让人感动！截止当日下午5时，安华中文学校共募集现金支票共计超过3万5千美元。

　　尤其值得一提的是, 在这次捐助活动中的最大一笔善款是10,000美元！捐款人是密执根大学地质系教授，也是安华中文学校曾经的老校长张有学和他的爱妻徐政久。了解安华历史的朋友们都不陌生，张校长不但为发展中文教育煞费苦心，更在历次祖国经历自然灾害时都慷慨解囊。这位低调而充满理想主义的知识分子竟然不愿在镜头前留下自己的影像。只有当我们搜索密执根大学的网页，才发现了张有学教授的一张照片。

　　安华中文学校作为安娜堡乃至密执根地区最有影响力的华人组织之一，从1993年学校成立开始就一直关注社区的慈善关怀活动。面对此次巨大的地震灾害，安华中文学校将继续在安娜堡地区开展募捐活动。6月1日 (星期日) 为第二个安华爱心赈灾募捐日。欢迎来安华捐款或参加捐助活动。您也可采用邮寄的方式参加安华的捐助活动。详情请访问学校网站 annhua.org。让我们共同为祖国和同胞，为失去父母、家园、学校的孩子们分忧解难，亲情奉献！

As some have reported difficulties accessing Annhua.org using Internet Explorer, I am strongly recommending that you use Firefox as your web browser. You may download Firefox for free at the URL below:

I have also removed the automatic redirect of annhua.org to use SSL encryption since that causes IE to stubbornly display a warning message. That warning message is caused by the fact that the annhua.org site does own a private certificate. We use a certificate that the service provider has installed on the server that is shared between multiple hosted websites. Therefore the certificate does not match our website's name, which causes IE to believe there may be a security problem. Firefox also warns about the certificate issue but you only need to tell it to ignore it once every time you connect to Annhua.org while in IE you need to jump through many hoops to make it shut up.

One more thing: I have added a menu item on the left hand side for Firefox users to continue using SSL encryption. Just click "Secure Connection". Using SSL connection is encouraged because it reduces the risk of someone stealing your password, which is especially helpful when you are connecting over a wireless connection.

I am announcing the Acceptable Use Policy as the annhua.org website administrator on behalf of the school administration. A small change on the website can be seen on the left hand side under "Ann Hua", an entry titled "Acceptable Use Policy" is added.

This policy is drafted to provide Ann Hua with a basic legal coverage against abuse of this website, which has happened in the past.

Please read the AUP and comment here if you have any suggestion for revision or objection to anything in the policy.
